Single Track, season two · dating and discernment (weeks 8–14 of 14)
This season we finally talk about meeting someone — but we’re not teaching you how to get a date, and nobody is getting set up here. What we’re doing together is changing the glasses you look at love through: seeing with God’s eyes, waiting on God’s timing, loving God’s way.
The slides and lesson plans are completely ready and downloadable, but for the first 18 months we’re only walking the Married Track — we won’t carry expectations for two tracks at once. The Single Track’s unit is “one family opens its home to 3–4 young adults”; see the explanation on the Rooted page.
This inventory started back in week 1 of Rooted — but only column B, “who I am now,” with not a single question about choosing a spouse. Now, in week 1 of this season (week 8 overall), it’s column A’s turn: the person I want.
That’s deliberate. Column A has to be written independently, without looking at column B, or the gap isn’t real. Only then, when all three pages go side by side in week 14, do those two questions carry any weight:
Did I change in these fourteen weeks?
And would the person I want, want who I am now?
Session 7 of Found — “open the list, and count how God changed what I wanted” — is exactly this moment.
Question 37: “The person I want — what’s the most likely reason they wouldn’t choose me?”
That question is the bridge between column A and column B. If he can write an answer, he has already seen it. If he can’t, or writes “I don’t know,” that’s the first piece of homework. When you sit down one-on-one, this is the one you have to talk about.
Questions like “the person on my mind right now” live in the ☒ for yourself only layer and never enter any answer code. The host family can never get them, and shouldn’t ask.
This inventory lets the host family understand them better precisely so they can hold the “never matchmake, never ask about anyone’s love life” line more firmly — not so they can cross it more easily.
God changes what you want before He gives what He prepared.
— the thread of this seasonSame shape as season one: tea and warm-up 15′ → short talk / testimony 25′ → same-gender small group, going deep 40′ (on matters of the heart, people only tell the truth with their own gender) → practice / response 15′ → praying together 10′.
